Health and Social Care

Health and Social care is a Cambridge National qualification which can be level 1 or level 2.  level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE and equates the same points

The top grade is a Distinction * = 9 at GCSE

The course is broken up into 3 parts - There is an exam that can be taken either in the January of Year 11 or the summer.  If taken in the January the students have an opportunity to try and improve their grade in the summer or the grade they get in the January can be banked.

There are 2 NEA coursework to complete.  One is set by the exam board and a stage of life to study is given each year.  There is a choice between the other piece of coursework and school can choose the coursework that best fits the cohort for that year.  It is flexible when the coursework is completed.  The coursework can be assessed by teaching staff and the students then have a chance to improve their grade before final submission.

The course entails studying about the 5 life stages, the rights of service users and responsibilities of service providers.  Differing forms of care and communication methods.

The course is suitable for anyone who likes to learn in a very progressive way, where feedback on progress is given regularly.

Suitable for those going into teaching, medical profession, dentistry, social care, health professionals, physiotherapy and can lead you on to Level 3 courses in H&S at college as well as T levels, A levels and apprenticeships.
