Results Days 13th and 20th August 2026

Results, guidance and next steps 2026

Congratulations go to the students on making such a positive start to their exams. With study leave now beginning, we are sharing details of what happens next for y11.

  • GCSE results day: Thursday 20 August 2026 from 9am-11.30am and until 3pm with Mrs Sorenson.

  • Friday 21st August - clinic and support for next steps 9am - 3pm.

On both these days, school will be open to collect results in person. As well as senior staff available on these dates, we will have Catherine Sorenson (Careers Adviser) with us to support students with next steps. Please do come in to collect results in person; we really want to see you!

Inside your results, you will have details of how to request any reviews of marking. The deadline for these requests is 24th September 2026, so it is not essential to resolve any concerns before school restarts in September.

Results collection

If your child cannot collect their results personally they can give permission for a family member or friend to collect the results on their behalf. To do this, they must email exams@maschool.org.uk  stating the name of the person they wish to collect their results who will need to bring a photo ID with them if they are not a student at Matthew Arnold School. Results will not be handed out to a third party without written permission. The school also emails results to students at 1pm on this day.

Post-results services

There are also a number of services that the school and exam boards offer after the results. The exam boards’ services are detailed here. Please be aware there are fees from the exam boards for these services. You will also need to be able to provide written consent for these services. Full details of these fees, consent forms and deadlines will be in your results.

To request return of a script, there is a school administration fee of £10. Please note that, if you request the return of a script, the school is not able to review and provide advice on that script formally when it is received from the exam board.

DfE Education Record App

The DfE have launched a new app which students will be able to use from this year onwards. If you would like  to use this app, download from the Google Play or Apple app stores:

Once you have downloaded the app, your identity will be validated at school on results day by a member of staff. This is a short process that requires you to be present, with the app already installed on your phone. Results will then be available on the app by 1pm on Thursday 20th August.

You need to keep your results slips safe until you receive your examination certificates. These are usually available from late November and we hold a Certificate Evening which is a wonderful reunion and celebration event. This is taking place on Tuesday 23rd March.

We look forward to seeing you all in August - best of luck!
