Welcome to MAS Library

Matthew Arnold School is a reading school and the the library plays a central role to supporting students with their reading. It is a bright, relaxed space which seeks to embed a love of reading in all those who come to the library. The library offers a welcome environment for students who are looking for a place to read or to work quietly.

Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader is a programme that all students in Years 7&8 follow. It is used to encourage and monitor students' reading and to develop a reading habit that will hopefully carry on as the student moves up the school.

Each student's reading is assessed using the Star Reading Test which establishes their Reading Range and directs them to read a book that suits their ability. Books in the school library are marked up with the appropriate level to enable students to be able to choose quickly.

After a student finishes a book, a reading practice quiz is taken.

You can access Accelerated Reader here.

Students can check the levels of their books by using AR Bookfinder.
