Matthew Arnold School Prospectus

"I hope that this prospectus will give you a flavour of what it means to be a member of our happy, inclusive and ambitious school community. Our ethos is based on a culture of high expectations and high standards, hard work and the belief that every young person can be successful. We expect the best from everyone and for everyone in our school. Our aim is to cultivate our capacity for success and to achieve this we offer high-quality teaching and an engaging curriculum enabling students to progress as learners as well as developing emotionally and socially.

Schools are centres of learning and our strength is to involve our students actively in their own learning. Through our curriculum we want young people to:

  • Learn how to learn with a positive attitude
  • Learn how to relate well to other people
  • Learn how to manage and process information
  • Learn how to manage themselves in a range of situations with confidence
  • Learn how to be responsible members of society

We have high academic standards and a rich extra-curricular programme. We also recognise that to be a successful school, providing the best quality of education to all our students, we are most successful when we work in partnership with parents to secure the best outcomes for every student.

We would be delighted to see you in school to show you more of what we offer. If you telephone or email us, the school's Reception team can arrange a tour of the school to experience first-hand our purposeful and supportive atmosphere."

Anthony Broadley, Headteacher
